What is the Love Buck Experiment?

The Love Buck Experiment

In a nutshell (or a Mason Jar), the Experiment was created with the intention to establish greater accountability for intimacy within marriage through a unique and simple method. The birth of the Love Buck Experiment came through the realization that it is possible to measure intimacy with your spouse and this heightened level of accountability will provide a reward that goes beyond a few bucks in a jar.

So - What is the Love Buck Experiment?

The Experience provides a simple and unique method to measuring intimacy. Also, the Experiment can be tailored to each couple to be unique to each marital relationship.

The Love Buck Experiment is a year long challenge (365 Days) for married couples. While the concept is simple, there are many different layers to the benefits that it will provide.

So here it is.

The only thing you need to start the Experiment is a Mason Jar, some dollar bills, and an appetite to see your marriage grow.

From day one to the last day of the Experiment, every time you and your spouse share an intimate sexual moment, you add one dollar to a jar. These dollars will be referred to as "Love Bucks." As you go through each month, the jar and each Love Buck is a symbol of your intimate times together (or to be blunt, the lack of intimate moments).

The unique reward of this strategy is that at the end of the year that each couple can use these Love Bucks to celebrate their year of intimacy. For example, at the end of this year, me and my spouse are planning a nice dinner and we determined that we can only use the money in the jar to pay for the meal. What does this mean? It means that if we have $100 to spend we will have a much nicer time than only having $50 to pay for the meal. The more intimate times we spend together - the better the celebration at year end.

How does this help to grow your marriage?

Without this accountability and being able to measure intimacy within marriage, we place ourselves at risk of ignoring the most important relationship in our lives -- living blindly to the fact that these intimate moments are not occurring.

T
he jar becomes a measuring stick and a point of accountability in each couples marriage. In short, the jar does not lie. Your jar is either growing or it is stagnant. Again, this is the measuring stick we need in our marriages to help us grow.

As I mentioned, each couple can tailor this challenge to make it unique. I have a good friend who is adding wine corks to a jar in lieu of dollar bills. Each cork represents one dollar. At the end of the year, the couple plans to go purchase a bottle of wine with the money accumulated to celebrate their marriage and year of intimate moments.

Again, be as creative as you wish. The goal is to create day to day accountability and a fantastic reason to celebrate each year.

We will continue to blog and share how this is impacting marriages as we move forward.

We hope it is a blessing to you.
